Even as 3G networks were just beginning to roll out at scale, Wichorus founder Rehan Jalil saw a critical divergence in the needs of the 4G mobile core. The IP packet paradigm of 4G required a new architecture, and the traffic volume of next-generation applications motivated a new scale point.
The Wichorus team drew upon their experience in service-aware router design and wireless network architecture to skillfully meet these emerging needs, resulting in the company’s acquisition by Tellabs in 2009.
