Since the origin of computing, software has been inextricably linked to the hardware it was written for. Transitive changed that with its Dynamic Binary Translation technology, which broke the dependency between OS software and system hardware. CEO Bob Wiederhold and team brought this technology to mass market deployment on some of the largest volume computer platforms in the world before the company was acquired by IBM in 2009.
